From Dance Portrait to Storybook Art

Her session gave me the perfect opportunity to combine two things I love—beautiful portrait photography and imaginative artwork that tells a story. Every Storybook portrait begins with a photography session.

For this Colorado Springs dance photography session, we focused on capturing her movement, expression and the beautiful lines she's developed through years of dance.

Before and After

After the session, I use the original portraits as the foundation for creating one-of-a-kind Storybook artwork. Backgrounds, atmosphere, color and artistic details are carefully added to create a finished piece inspired by the person I'm photographing.

Celebrating What She Loves Right Now

One of my favorite things about creating these portraits is finding out what someone loves and building the artwork around it.

Rather than simply documenting what she looks like at this age, I wanted her portraits to celebrate who she is right now.

She was full of ideas in how to express herself. She loved water, beach, mermaids, and a little sparkle.
